This whole stretch of South Australia moves at the speed of water, houseboats drifting past floodplains and vineyards on a river that has shaped everything living alongside it. Ngarrindjeri stories have travelled these currents for thousands of years, the river's meaning running far deeper than any tourist itinerary can capture. Pelicans work the shallows most mornings, gliding low over water shared by fishers, paddlers and campers alike. This is a place that has never once been in a hurry.
