Mid Murray Council

A district split between dramatic river cliffs and quiet farming plains

Mid Murray holds two very different landscapes within the same council boundary, red-and-gold cliffs rising sheer from the river on one side, flat dryland farms on the other. Mannum anchors the river side, birthplace of the Murray's paddle steamer industry, still told aboard the PS Marion. Swan Reach keeps its own quieter river character further along, close to Big Bend's tallest cliffs. Away from the water, sheep and cropping country fills the rest of the district.
