Gympie Memorial Park

Reef Street, Gympie, Queensland, Australia, 4570 Arrow
Located in the heart of Gympie, Memorial Park is a peaceful, triangular-shaped space combining natural beauty with historical significance. Shaded by mature trees and framed by colourful gardens and open lawns, it's an ideal setting for a picnic or quiet moment of reflection. The park was officially opened in 1921 to honour the 167 local men who lost their lives in World War I. Returned servicemen completed much of the groundwork, including winding gravel paths and raised stone rockeries filled with annuals, perennials, and roses. Palms, jacarandas, pines, and poinsettias were also planted, creating a vibrant living memorial. The 1920 rotunda honours a respected local bandmaster and remains a popular gathering point. A sandstone monument also pays tribute to James Nash, who sparked the Gympie gold rush.
