50th West Coast Classic Surfing Event

In 2025 we will be celebrating the 50th West Coast Classic. This iconic surfing event is the second longest running surfing competition across Australia and to reach 50 years is a wonderful achievement. Held on Tasmania’s amazing West Coast, this event has been a drawcard for our States best surfers and some of the largest crowds we see and has often drawn media coverage due to its location, quality of waves and the people that are involved locally. Only a few short years ago, this event featured as part of an ABC Documentary (Backroads). To celebrate the 50th West Coast Classic, Surfing Tasmania is turning the event into a festival of surfing that will take place over 4 days from Friday 18th April to Monday 21st April 2025 (Easter). The festival will continue the competition side but also include celebratory events throughout the weekend to look back over 50 years of surfing in Tasmania and the Northwest region.
