Description

Located in the former home and office of mining magnate John Moffat, Loudoun House is a marvellous collection of artifacts and information on Irvinebank, it's mining and domestic history. Built in 1884 it remains the oldest corrugated iron and timber two storey building in Queensland. Irvinebank was the centre of Moffat's mining empire and one of the richest Tin mining districts in Australia. The museum houses a fabulous collection of records used by historians and genealogy researchers. Run by enthusiastic volunteers who are happy to share information with visitors. Dog and family friendly. The nearby free campground enables visitors to spend a little longer and see all the sites and historic buildings in Irvinebank.
