Pine Mountain Walking Track

The Pine Mountain Walking Track offers a challenge for the adventurous, leading to panoramic views of the surround Murray River valleys from atop of one of Australia’s largest monoliths. Located in North East Victoria, approximately 120km east of Albury-Wodonga and 25km northwest of Corryong, Pine Mountain Walking Track is located in the Burrowa Pine Mountain National Park (18,400 ha). One of the two peaks after which the Park is named, Pine Mountain, is a monolith. A single gigantic rock, reputedly one and a half times as big as Uluru. The Pine Mountain Walking Track boasts impressive scenery, diverse habitats and significant flora conservation values and for the prepared walker the opportunity to summit Pine Mountain for panoramic views. Covering a distance of 12km the track is long and strenuous and walkers are advised to begin early and allow seven hours to complete a return journey. To begin the walk, visitors can access the car park and picnic area at the end of Pine Mountain Track via Sandy Creek Road. With a number of climbs and ascents, the track is marked out by coloured markers and rock cairns where the track traverses large granite outcrops. Conditions can change in parks for many reasons.
