Torrumbarry Weir

Conveniently located between Echuca and Gunbower, the peaceful oasis that is Torrumbarry is known for its vast, beautiful waterways deeply entrenched in historic significance. The original trestle weir and lock chamber at Torrumbarry Weir is heritage listed, highlighting its significance to water management in region for almost a century, since its development in the 1920s. Visit the Interpretive Centre for a fascinating, interactive self-guided tour recapping its development. The Weir is also the starting point for the annual Southern 80 Ski Race and is a popular spot throughout the year with water sport fans. The Gunbower/Torrumbarry wetlands are among Australia’s most significant and are also categorised as one of the most important wetlands in the Murray-Darling Basin.
