Description

Situated in the stunning Glass House Mountains, state heritage-listed Bankfoot House was built in 1868 in time to greet the first Cobb & Co coach on its journey from Brisbane to the Gympie goldfields. It is the oldest surviving residence in the Glass House Mountains and the last surviving Cobb & Co staging post on this route. With Mt Tibrogargan as a backdrop, the property was once a lunch stop, staging post, post office and accommodation. Bankfoot House stayed in the same family for 134 years, making this property a unique and authentic heritage experience. It demonstrates the tenacity, ingenuity and adaptability of early settlers and subsequent farming generations. The precinct offers a full heritage and museum experience including the virtual reality First Nations app, films, free guided house tours, and self-guided tours of the shed and grounds. Bring a picnic, discover and enjoy. Group bookings essential. Located 15 minutes drive from Australia Zoo and 5 minutes from Glass House Mountains lookout.
