Description

The taste of the Aussie Camino takes in 80+ kilometres of S.A.'s Limestone Coast, fashioned on the great pilgrimage trails of Europe. This section starts in Port MacDonnell on the southern most coast of South Australia, an extension the Great Ocean Road, half way between Melbourne and Adelaide. It was here that Mary MacKillop boarded a boat to Adelaide. Over four days pilgrims walk to the city of volcanic lakes and sinkholes, Mt Gambier, through the quaint town of Kalangadoo and on to Penola, finishing where Mary's dream of education for all became a reality. Undertaking a pilgrimage is more than a great walk. It is a time to visit your inner self; your own mortality, spirituality, weaknesses and inner strength. All within the context of Mother Nature's best and the shared compassion of others undertaking their own pilgrimage. It is a chance to walk alone, meditate or share.
