The Bootlegger Bar Katoomba

Low and slow is the mantra at Katoomba’s Bootlegger, a bar-cum-smokehouse where every bite and sip transports you straight to the southern US – think Cajun classics and barbecue done in true southern style. Meats are prepared with time and care, from the melt-in-your-mouth pulled pork with slaw and pickles, to pork ribs by the full or half rack and a Rangers Valley Black Tyde Angus steak. But there ae plenty of options for non-carnivores, including mushroom burgers, smoked mac-n-cheese and vegan nachos. Unsurprisingly, jalapeños, tequila and mezcal are regular features on the drinks list – sometimes all paired together in the same drink. And imbibing before noon is not frowned upon: order the breakfast martini if you don’t believe us. Like many Blue Mountains establishments, Bootlegger is an ardent supporter of local, from those delicious meats and vegetables to the beers and ciders that accompany.
