Description

The Charleville Botanical Reserve aims to showcase the region’s vegetation within a 2,000 hectare reserve, just 15km south of Charleville. The 30km driving route around the reserve takes you through spinifex and mulga forest, across a gidgee swamp and over a sand ridge to the mixed floodplain with poplar box and cypress communities along the Warrego River. There’s plenty of bird-watching to be had, although the best time to visit the Charleville Botanical Reserve is in spring, when the desert myrtle turns the landscape pink.
