Altar Bar

A multi-storey, inner-city hangout in Hobart’s CBD and part of the In The Hanging Garden precinct, Altar Bar slings $6.66 beers and classic pub food five days a week, with regular gigs from local and touring acts. Enjoy tins, tap beer, cider, wine, spirits and cocktails across three bars and a food menu boasting cheese burgers, schnitties, hot dogs, fish n chips, nachos and cheesy garlic bread. There’s lots of quiet spots to kick back and relax on Altar Bar’s top level and partially-covered rooftop patio. Up the energy with a few rounds of pool and a go on the claw machine, or really rock out in the state of the art bandroom to a wide range of genres and gigs. Open Wednesday-Sunday till late (which means at least till 2am on Friday and Saturday nights—longer if you’re not ready to go home).
