Yagurli Tours is an Indigenous-owned business operated by the Gangalidda and Garawa Peoples. It is located in Burketown on the Albert River in the Gulf of Carpentaria. Burketown’s location in the Queensland state is 2115 kilometres north-west of Brisbane, 900 kilometres east of Cairns and approximately 30 kilometres inland from the Gulf of Carpentaria. Yagurli means fish in the Gangalidda language. Presently, they offer Fishing Charters on the Albert River, 4 Wheel Drive tag along with Cultural Tours, and Stargazing, Indigenous storytelling, and sunset river cruises. The Gangalidda People are recognised as the traditional landowners in and around Burketown and are part of Australia’s rich cultural heritage that dates back more than 70,000 years. It is one of the world’s oldest continual cultures. It has a diversity of language, art, dance, with a core primary cultural value of looking after country and living sustainably. These are highly prized values in a modern urbanized world. Yagurli Tours will delight visitors to the region by sharing the country, history and traditional stories of the Gangalidda People.
