Platypus Beach, Mirani
Platypus Beach is a popular swimming hole for locals and tourists, a little slice of sandy paradise on the bank of the Pioneer River, near the country town of Mirani.
This is a beautiful location to enjoy swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding and picnics. As the name eludes, there is even the possibility of seeing a platypus in its natural environment.
Platypus Beach is a short drive from Mirani, under the Mirani Bridge along the Mackay-Eungella Road.
This recently-renovated natural attraction includes a sealed access road, picnic facilities, informative signs and shelter.
There are currently no toilets and visitors must take rubbish with them to keep this attraction unspoiled.
