Deep River

Mount Frankland National Park, North Walpole, Western Australia, Australia, 6398 Arrow
The broad pools and rushing rapids of Deep River’s upper reaches are where many canoeing and kayaking enthusiast find their thrills. Top fishing and bird-watching spots can also be found along its path through the State karri, jarrah and tingle forests, Mount Frankland and Walpole-Nornalup National Parks to the Nornalup Inlet at Walpole. An easy day trip from many southwest towns, the lower reaches of Deep River lie just a few kilometres to the southwest of Walpole. The cascades and pools of the upper reaches are 40 kilometres to the north, off South Western Highway. The most popular of these is Fernhook Falls – a particularly stunning sight in the winter months, and a picturesque picnic and swimming spot in summer. Be sure not to miss the most magnificent views of the region’s tingle tree wilderness by taking a gentle 40-metre climb up into the canopy on the Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk. Know before you go and check for alerts, emergency incidents and road/park closures in parks www.emergency.wa.gov.au and https://alerts.dbca.wa.gov.au.
