Description

Explore the Parkes Aviation Museum, situated at the end of Muzycuk Drive at Parkes Airport. This intriguing museum is housed in a former RAAF hangar, a relic from the airport’s days as a World War II air force base. The museum is open on Thursdays and Sundays, with additional special opening times announced on the museum’s Facebook page. Discover a diverse collection of aircraft, including the Bell AH-1 Huey Cobra, De Havilland DHC-4 Caribou (A4-275), De Havilland DH.114 Heron (VH-AHB), Convair 580 (VH-PDW), and the Douglas Dakota (C47a) "Oklahoma Girl". Also on display are the Macchi Trainer, Lockheed P2V5 Neptune 302, Westland Wessex Helo 813, Grumman Tracker 843, and Lockheed 12a Electra Junior. The museum collaborates with Parkes High School students who contribute by preparing and painting aircraft for display, adding a local touch to this fascinating showcase of Australian aviation history. Come and immerse yourself in the history of flight and appreciate the legacy of aviation at the Parkes Aviation Museum. The museum has also been working closely with students from Parkes High School, who have been preparing and painting aircraft for display. Come along and inspect Australian aviation history, and admire the history of the sky.
