Gnaraloo Bay

Gnaraloo Bay, Macleod, Western Australia, Australia, 6701 Arrow
Gnaraloo Bay is a world-class surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing and fishing wilderness. Those who make the journey to this secluded spot will also be rewarded with some of the finest beaches and snorkelling spots to be found on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) World Heritage-listed Ningaloo Reef. Carnarvon is your gateway to Gnaraloo, and you can choose to drive the 904-kilometre route from Perth or hop on a two-hour flight from Perth airport. From there, it’s a 140 kilometre drive (mainly unsealed roads) to reach Gnaraloo Bay. The sheer size and power of the waves at Gnaraloo Point are only suitable for experienced surfers – they travel the world to test their skills at the renowned Tombstones. Just off the beach at Gnaraloo Bay, the water is much calmer and perfect for kitesurfing or windsurfing in the afternoon breeze. Bring your mask and snorkel and you’ll discover some of Ningaloo’s most pristine coral gardens, teeming with marine life. An early morning beach walk may also bring glimpses of dolphins, manta rays, migrating humpback whales (June to November) and turtles. Gnaraloo Bay is a significant turtle rookery and home to one of the world’s largest populations of endangered loggerhead turtles.
