The new Women’s and Children’s Hospital is being built next to Adelaide Gaol. This means there are some changes to how you can get to the Gaol. Adelaide Gaol is open as usual. Over 147 years, the Gaol housed some of the state's most notorious and dangerous criminals. Step back in time and walk the hallways and cells of South Australia's first inmates. Open for business from 1841 to 1988, the Gaol was one of Australia's longest continuously operational prison facilities.
