Description

The Coorow Farm is situated just 1 kilometre from the town centre and is host to a variety of wildflowers including orchids, everlastings and natives. Wildflower times are between July and October annually depending on weather patters. The trail around the farm can be either walked or driven. Also found on the Coorow Farm is the site of the original settlers of Coorow, the Long Family Homestead. William and Sara Long first settled the area in 1862 raising sheep and horses. The horses were shipped to Singapore, where they were used by the British forces and the wool was taken by dray to Dongara and Perth. The ruins of their homestead can be seen on the final leg of the trail approximately 550 metres from the exit to Coorow Latham Road. Brochures including map and locations can be found at the Coorow Community Resource Center or the Shire of Coorow Office - both are on Main Street.
