Lillimilura Police Station

via Fairfield Leopold Downs Road, Derby, Western Australia, Australia, 6728 Arrow
The ruins of Lillimilura Police Station are located in Bandilngan Windjana Gorge National Park. It was at this site that the Aboriginal tracker Jandamarra (also known as Pigeon) began the resistance of the Bunuba people against the European settlers of his homeland. Jandamarra killed a policeman at the Lillimilura Police Station, then set his people free and fled. It took three years for him to be captured and killed, and during that time he became a hero amongst his people. Explore the 1884 ruins and try to imagine the mutiny that took place. Lillimilura Police Station is a two-hour drive from Derby.
