Inside the historic premises which opened in 1899, your guide will introduce The Perth Mint’s world-class exhibition and its mesmerising journey of gold discovery. You’ll encounter extraordinary gold nuggets, hold a large bullion bar and see some of the most famous coins and medals ever made in Australia. Be greeted by their One Tonne Gold Coin, an enormous version of their admired Australian Kangaroo series. Worth more than AUD 110 million, the colossal piece won the title of the ‘largest gold coin’ by Guinness World Records. See unique examples of Western Australia’s gold and silver heritage with The Karratha Queen and King Henry, two of the world’s largest precious metal specimens. Your guide will then demonstrate an awe-inspiring live gold pour in the original Melting House. It’s a spectacle of wonder as molten gold is transformed into a gleaming solid gold bar before your eyes. As a token of your visit, medallions are available which can be engraved in a matter of minutes with your personal message. After the tour, you can visit The Perth Mint Jewellery Boutique which showcases many of Australia’s most precious natural treasures in a curated collection of exquisite gemstones.
