Winton Wetlands

652 Lake Mokoan Road, Winton North, Victoria, Australia, 3673 Arrow
A wetlands restoration project of international significance, Winton Wetlands has been designated a Wetland of Distinction by the Society of Wetland Scientists, the first such listing given outside of the USA. Winton Wetlands brings people, groups and communities together to renew themselves and be immersed in the distinctive landscape. Located in northeast Victoria, Australia, the 8,750-hectare site features 32 distinct wetland zones and is home to a huge variety of native flora and fauna, including over 180 species of birds. Visitors can enjoy a memorable walk, an adventurous bike ride or a relaxing visit to the excellent Mokoan Hub and Café, open for refreshment and meals. With thousands of years of Indigenous cultural heritage, the site provides insights into some of the traditional values and beliefs of the Yorta Yorta people and a glimpse into why the site remains culturally important. Winton Wetlands even has a decorated outdoor art water tank, featuring the work of internationally renowned street artist Guido van Helten, which features as part of the regional Victorian Silo Art Trail. The Wetlands are in a constant state of change, every visit reveals something new and interesting. Come and discover for yourself what makes Winton Wetlands such a special place.
