Namoi Echo Museum

Rose Street, Wee Waa, New South Wales, Australia, 2388 Arrow
The Namoi Echo Museum, Wee Waa is not to be missed when visiting Wee Waa. The Museum and Schwager Cottage allow you to step back in time, right in the heart of Cotton Country. Located on Rose Street, the museum is just a short walk from the main shopping area of Wee Waa. A cotton picker, old tractors, a crop duster, a Blacksmith shop, a restored children's Merry-Go-Round and an Aboriginal display and artefacts are a highlight of the museum. The museum also has on display a fully restored Schoolhouse and Saw Miller's cottage which displays a collection of period clothing, furniture and domestic utensils. Wee Waa was first inhabited by the Kamilaroi Aboriginal tribe and was settled in the late 1830s by Europeans. It is known as the oldest town on the Namoi River. The museum also has a fantastic collection of old photographs that portray the local history and the people who live dine the district. Market stalls and their famous Big Breakfast are also held in the grounds of the museum regularly. You could spend hours roaming through the Museum or sit and enjoy a cup of tea and a chat. Coach groups are welcome. The Echo Museum is run by a dedicated group of volunteers from the Wee Waa and District Historical Society.
