Opened in 1981, the High Commission takes the form of a Haus Tambaran or Spirit House. Traditionally, the Haus Tambaran was a meeting place for tribal elders. It was also a storehouse for sacred objects. The vivid gable depicting stylised images of clan ancestors, was painted by students from the National Art School in Port Moresby. Applying for visitor and business visas is available online. Please note: Visa-on-arrival is no longer available.
