Standing on what used to be the floor of an inland sea
Out on the Overlander's Way between Townsville and Mount Isa, Richmond sits on some of the richest marine fossil country on Earth, ground that was seabed roughly 100 million years ago. Kronosaurus Korner holds the proof, a museum built around Krono himself, a massive pliosaur skeleton pulled from the district. Fossick on nearby stations for your own marine fossil, or cool off at Lake Fred Tritton with a line in the water. Shady streets and wide golden plains make an easy stop between the two bigger towns either side. Out here, the horizon really does go on forever.
