Litchfield Area

Litchfield offers more than its famous pools, though Wangi Falls and Buley Rockhole are worth the stop if a swim is what you're after. Tolmer Falls rewards a different kind of visit, a lookout over the falls rather than a dip, protected to keep the resident bat colony undisturbed. Drive further into the park and the Lost City appears, sandstone pillars eroded into shapes that look uncannily like ancient ruins. Giant termite mounds rise across the drier stretches, some built with genuine north-south precision. However you spend the day, Litchfield rarely shows you the same thing twice.
