Debbie Beasley and Daisy Peterson

Two artists from Central Australia present paintings of their homelands. Daisy Peterson paints at Epenarra, a community of about 200 people adjacent to the Davenport Ranges on the Barkly Tablelands. The paintings feature the landscapes of the ancestors, marking the seasons and the types of bush foods and bush medicine plants found there. Epenarra community has a school and health centre, church and outback store, and the artists' studio is central to the creative output of the community. Debbie Beasley, also born at Epenarra, now lives and works in Tennant Creek. Debbie Beasley finds her subject matter through being involved with traditional practices on country. Her paintings include all forms of flora and fauna, wildflowers and soakages. People go hunting and take children to see the country, learn about the bush foods and medicines. 'Painting is the way of learning.' The exhibition is presented in association with Barkly Regional Arts
