Repair a Chair

1849 Smelters' Home is an intriguing heritage building with many treasures. Join us at our Chair Repair Workshop on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, from 11:30 am-2:30 pm. Choose from a delightful assortment of period chairs, each with its own unique story, and enjoy the satisfaction of restoring them using the materials and tools provided. Whether you're a seasoned restorer or trying your hand for the first time, there's a project perfect for your skills and curiosity. Materials and tools will be provided. Repaired chairs may be purchased or donated back to Smelters' Home for a new purpose. Selected chairs will be featured in an installation at the Burra Regional Art Gallery in 2026. There is no cost for this event, however, donations are appreciated.
