WaWaNee - Back to the 80's at Bird's Basement

Wa Wa Nee was a leading Australian band in the 1980s, formed in 1985 by Steve Williams and Paul Gray. They quickly rose to fame after signing with CBS Records, achieving landmark success with hit singles like "Stimulation" and "I Could Make You Love Me." They became the first Australian group to have two singles in the top 10 of the national charts simultaneously. Their debut album, released in 1986, received platinum certification, and their third hit "Sugar Free" followed with another top 10 single "One and One." The band aimed for success in the U.S., where "Sugar Free" hit the Top 40. They appeared on popular shows such as American Bandstand and The Late Show with Arsenio Hall. However, after releasing "I Want You" in 1989, they disbanded. Post-breakup, Steve Williams joined The Party Boys and toured with various artists. He later moved to Europe, developing a passion for teaching music. In 2006, Steve collaborated with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, and in 2008, he toured with Deep Purple's Jon Lord. Today, Steve reunites with a talented band to celebrate Wa Wa Nee's music, offering fans a chance to relive the late 80s at performances like the one at Bird's Basement.
