Description

Discover the rich history of Tuggeranong Homestead. This landmark holds captivating stories from Indigenous heritage to convict connections and pastoral life. It played a pivotal role in establishing the National Capital and hosted C.E.W. Bean while he wrote the official histories of Australia's involvement in World War One. Experience military re-enactments, a talk from Ross Coulthart who wrote on the life of Charles Bean. Rohan Goyne will talk about his Irish convict ancestor Martin Pike, after whom Pikes Paddock is named within the site. Join a tour of the garden and inspect the plantings and works to restore Tuggeranong Creek. There will be demonstrations, performances, stalls, displays including classic cars, colonial guns and photographs. Bring a picnic or purchase refreshments. Please note - no alcohol may be brought onto the property but can be purchased on site. Enjoy activities for everyone including old fashioned games, face painting and bendy balloons.
