The Wayne Kelly Trio, led by one of Australia’s finest jazz pianists, add to the sizzle of summer with a live performance celebrating 25 years of playing that will be exhilarating, achingly beautiful and always swinging. Prominent and accomplished musicians, drummer Mark Sutton and double bassist Ben O’Loughlin, take to the stage with composer/pianist Wayne Kelly for an exchange of thoughts, feelings and ideas in a musical journey jam-packed with top notch jazz. Bassist Ben O’Loughlin cut his teeth in the New York Jazz Scene and brings his solid yet melodic musical sensibility to jazz, classical and Eastern European traditional music whilst drummer Mark Sutton is legendary for his deep groove, supportive yet exciting ensemble playing. Come along and celebrate 25 years with Wayne, Ben and Mark who are connected by a passion for the love of music and jazz, drawing inspiration from the music of Jazz Piano legends Ahmad Jamal, Thelonious Monk, McCoy Tyner, Kenny Kirkland, Keith Jarrett and Brad Mehldau to name a few.
